CHARACTERISTICS OF THE
MENDING ARCHETYPE
- Puts fragmented parts back together
- Gets underneath the conflict, the wounds, the separate parts to find common ground
- Cuts away rough edges so the new pieces can be joined evenly, without threads, tears or remnants hanging out
- Binds up wounds so the edges can grow together and create a new reality to secure the continued existence for both parts
- Weaves a new fabric from old threads. Mixes new colors from old
- Seems the possibility of mending among people, parts, institutions, beliefs which the rest of us would never think of putting together
- Finds his work, his location, his action everywhere the human condition is fragmented
- Brings together for healing to begin

- Have you seen into a situation, seen how things might be brought together before they actually have?
- Do you have a desire to get underneath old wounds and tattered memories and ask, “What is this all about?”
- Have you brought together conflicted parts, binding them so they can no longer tear apart? What were they? What were the circumstances?
- Have you invited out new and alternative ways of living, being, and doing together? What were the circumstances? What was the result?
