About the Author
Warren Ziegler (1927 – 2004)
A world renowned futurist, researcher, teacher, author, and enspirited envisioner, Warren Ziegler was born in New York City. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and completed post-graduate work at the University of Chicago.
He served as Regional Director of Eastern Nigeria for the Peace Corps in the 1960s. He was Director of the Educational Policy Research Center at Syracuse University, a senior fellow to the Center for Discovery and Invention at Long Island University and a senior fellow of the Learning Center for Creative Change at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. Warren also held a senior position with the U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington, D.C. He taught at the university level in the U.S., Canada, Denmark, England, Venezuela, and Yugoslavia.
Warren published extensively in the fields of lifelong learning, post-secondary education, civic literacy, leadership and policy planning, futures work, creative conflict and enspirited envisioning. He pioneered enspiriting techniques and is the author of Ways of Enspiriting, Transformative Practices of the Twenty-First Century, When Your Spirit Calls – In Search of Your Spiritual Voice (first edition and the revised, second edition), Enspiriting Audio Cassettes, Legends of Red Planet (a fantasy/spiritual fiction), and numerous workbooks.
Warren worked towards a vision of world peace and the fulfillment of human potential. Warren’s understanding and enactment of his own spirit helped him create many lifelong and loving relationships. He had a great sense of humor, loved dogs, his family, and his work. Warren often found joy in finding the peace and serenity surrounding the little things in life.
Warren died after a short illness in October 2004. He is survived by his wife, Mandy, their son, Zach, and his brother, Jerry. He is survived also by his son, David, and daughter, Catherine from a previous marriage and two granddaughters, Tania and Ana.
